About Me
I am a visual artist working in Toronto, Ontario.
My most recent surface designs are inspired by nature and created in my backyard studio. I often start by building a frame, stretching silk fabric onto the frame and using drawing fluid to draw my designs onto the silk for screen printing. My designs are hand drawn, painted and printed on linen and wool fabrics that are meant to be draped and scattered as artworks throughout the home or as installation pieces in various environments.
Inspired by my high school art teacher Wilf Perreault I pursued a degree in art education and studio art at the University of Saskatchewan. I was introduced to painting, printmaking and drawing. I have always loved creating with colour, texture and experimenting with various materials.
The courses I have taken such as Surface Design at Ontario College of Art & Design in Toronto and Graphic Design program at Emily Carr University of Art & Design in Vancouver were most exciting to me. The Design in Italy course through Emily Carr University provided me with an unique opportunity to visit studios of many passionate and talented artisans. This experience left me wanting to experiment and learn so much more!
As a designer and art educator I love to share my passion for the design process and for creating by hand.
